Shattered

    Sad little fan art of poor ol' Glass Joe after a rough fight. I just felt like drawing him. For some reason, there is a very sad aura around this guy, despite how cartoony and comical Punch Out is. He's just so adorable in a very Luigi sort of way; the underdog kind of way.

    I like the lineart but I don't really like the coloring. I'm still fairly new to digital coloring. I can see in my head how beautiful it could be but any artist knows that what comes out of your pen is never as cool as it is in your head.
    I was aiming to communicate a very sad atmosphere as well as a comforting one; like a good warm coffee is comforting when you're cold.
The sad part comes from the character pose, hunched back, empty expression, shadowed face, bandages and bruises and the mainly cold colors and atmosphere with the blanket covering him because he's trying to warm up. But there's some kind of warmth and comfort atmosphere due to the subtle touches of complementary colors that add a subtle warmth to the piece (mostly visible on the blanket) and the golden light that seems to shine on his face.

This is mainly a Photoshop exercice but I would be grateful for some constructive criticism and suggestions.
